FAQ’s

  •  Is an FDG PET scan harmful?

No, an FDG PET scan is not harmful for you. It might be harmful for an unborn child. If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant you should inform your physician.

  • How can I participate?

Participation is only possible if your doctor (most of the times this will be a neurologist) assumes that an FDG PET scan would provide useful information in your case. It should help to reach at a correct clinical diagnosis in an early phase of the disease. Since your data will be (anonymously) sent to a processing site, your agreement is required. For this, your doctor will ask your consent.

  • Do I have to do anything if I decide to participate in this project?

No, you do not have to do anything. Your doctor will arrange for the scan to be performed at your hospital and thereafter your medical data and your scan are sent to us anonymously.  We will analyse the scan and the results will be sent back to your doctor.

  • Do I benefit if I decide to participate?

Not directly. Only if the results do point at a clear diagnosis it may help to clarify your clinical situation. And as mentioned earlier, there are no extra risks or efforts for the patients either.
